Whether you are a gym novice or expert, you should have adequate knowledge of gym safety and how equipment works.  If you are using a treadmill, you should look forward to help keep balance and take precautions when getting on and off.  When using a bench press, make sure to have a spotter and always keep your chest out and shoulder blades back.  Pulley machines can be set to your own specifications, but you should always check the conditions of the cables before starting.  While working out on a rowing machine, keep your feet strapped and back straight.  When performing ab crunches, keep your arms at a 90-degree angle and start with light resistance.  Next time you are at a gym, be sure to implement these proper practices.
